Cozy Simulation 2999
Short horror game made for SeedComp 2023 in a few days. About 15 minutes long. Music and graphics, no jumpscares.
Changelog:
- March 1, 2023: Added a longer author's note.
- March 4, 2023: Minor bugfixes.
- March 6, 2023: More bugfixes.
- November 17, 2023: Very minor tweaks and optimizations. This is almost definitely the final version.
Author's note (April 25, 2023): This game was made in a short period of time, and looking back on it, I like it even less than I did before. I would encourage you to go play something else.

Holy moly I guessed the alternate ending would be different to the main path but damn... you made my skin crawwwlll...
I'm going back to the cabin instead and chill there instead. <3
This game is very cool! The hints and revelations are well-paced, and I enjoyed the balance of cozy and sinister. The "normal" ending was a satisfying story on its own, but I'm glad I played again. <3
This felt very matrix-y to me, albeit one where the machines are creating the ideal world rather than a “real life” one. It felt kind of like maybe this was one of the reiterations that the machines built but failed due to humans being hard wired to question and ultimately potentially reject a simulation of what a machine thinks should be the perfect, peaceful life causing the simulation to ultimately glitch and crash.
Yo, this is so much fun! I had to replay a few times, couldn't get enough of the game's impeccable mood. The writing is lovely or ghastly, by turns, and evocative without being distracting. I especially appreciated the way that initial unease unfolds so subtly. But the horror, when it does comes on, oh, it delivers in spades. Brb going to go play once more.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it, wasn't sure how well the writing worked. Good to know the atmosphere's there.
