Oh well. I think I will have nightmares about this.

Kinda-of spoilers ahead:

I think putting someone who is suicidal on a pod to travel the space-time nearly forever is not the best option for anyone involved.

It did made me think about how people who are not familiar with biology might not know how fucked up things can be. There's so many horrible diseases, parasites and all. Humanity is quite lucky to not live (daily) through the same violence as insects do, for example. And so, someone who knew about those things, would probably never have the courage to breach containement, like the main character did.

Worth noticing that even when you choose 'it doesn't hurt at all", the main's character final human act is to try to kill itself, because it does hurt and it is bad.

Final question: would you sacrifice everything you are to be happy and "loved" - and do so forcibly on other beings -? Thats a question that has been showing up a lot lately in pop-media, and I am sure some people would.

On the theme of infections and brainwashing: Mucorales would be my recommendation. Its on Itch.io as well.

I couldn't actually find Mucorales on itch.io but it was a few dollars on Steam, so I got and played it. Charming game. Thanks for the recommendation and your comments!

I'd humbly suggest my own Ectocomp game "Blue" from a few years ago:
