Regions of the Acid Factory
A downloadable seed
Seed for SeedComp 2023.
This is not a game. It is a short list of locations (~600 words).
Use as many or few as you'd like.
Takes heavy inspiration from Rain World.

Acid Factory
The Acid Factory swells deep into the earth. Its blistering fingers profane the heavens. From below it produces billowing toxic clouds and acid geysers. From above it rains down molten iron and flame.
There is only one city in the Acid Factory. Built on a decrepit superstructure from a forgotten past, it teems with countless lives. The lost and lovelorn flock to it. Some even dare to ask: What really is this place? And is it possible to leave?
Windblown Wirefarm
Frostbitten wires span a vertiginous abyss. Transmission towers wrought with icicles, bristling with frozen satellite dishes and transmitters, shudder in the wind. Cling tight to the wires. One slip will see you plummeting down into the morass of machinery, far below. If you squint past the howling wind and driving snow, you can almost see the sky.
Luminous Switchyard
White mist hangs low over rain-ravaged stacks of black machine strata, shot through with pillars of coruscating light. Touching them distorts your senses. The acid rain falls dark and heavy here, and inhabitants of this region learn to squirm into the darkest reaches they can find the moment they hear the first drops echoing down from the upper echelons of the machine.
Steam Siphons
A labyrinth of pipes stretching out unknown and unmapped distances. At periodic intervals vents open in the floor and ceiling, filling certain pathways with deadly steam and other vapors you'd best avoid. It is never quiet here; the whistle of distant steam screaming through narrow pipes is constant. Those who know how to navigate the pipeways can go fast, and far. The inexperienced die a rapid death.
Sulfur Ridge
Dizzying mounds of calcified machinery, melded by thousand-degree heat. Smoke hangs heavy in the air. The sulfur-charred metal is brittle, and the unwary might find a tenuous foothold collapsing, sending them down into the burning core of the Ridge. Reach a high point and you can see fields of flame, still raging after all these years, feeding on the remnants of what came before.
Ragged Chasm
Jagged shreds of metal stick out from the chasm's sides, waiting to impale those who fall. If you pick your way down with the utmost care, you may escape harm.
The depths of this region have yet to be explored. Besides the acid showers from above, the lower sectors of the chasm contain a roiling white fog that obscures visibility and lends slipperiness to the few handholds that can be found. Even learned scavengers do not dare venture too far, lest ascent become impossible.

hi
wow, interesting
This is so imaginative! The writing is superb, and I love how you make this place sound almost alive, despite it seemingly wanting to kill you at every turn. Very dystopic! The obvious project choice for this seed would be a parser, but it'd be interesting to see how one would incorporate this into a choice-based game. Perhaps construct a character (or several) to navigate and explore the landscape? — with survival as the goal.
Thanks, glad you liked it! This was a setting for a story I've basically abandoned, but I wanted to put the world out there in case other people thought it was interesting.
